Preparing for a Trip

What to Prepare:

We’re excited that you’re considering visiting us at Tree of Hope Haiti! Being prepared for an international trip is the first step to creating an impactful trip for yourself or your team. Below are some helpful steps in prepping for your travel.

Passport
All North Americans traveling to Haiti are required to have a passport for entry into the country. You can check with your local post office for a passport application. You can also go to the U.S. Department of State web page: http://travel.state.gov/passport or the Passport Canada web page: www.passportcanada.gc.ca. If you are applying for a new passport, please allow 4 – 8 weeks to receive it. All travelers should bring a photocopy of the first two pages of their passport in their carry-on luggage in the rare event that your passport is lost.

Customs
You will be required to fill out a customs form on the plane before you arrive in Haiti. Please use the address below as you complete the form:
Tree of Hope Haiti, Route Nationale #2 Grand-Goave, Haiti. The TOHH phone number to list is:
 (509)3125.0306 or (509)3724.5344

Entry Fee
Please note that starting July 1, 2014, all foreign nationals arriving in Haiti will be required to pay a US $10 tourist fee. Payment in cash ( US dollars only) must be made by passengers upon their arrival at the Port au Prince airport.

Flights
All flights are required to arrive and depart from the Port au Prince airport. Your group is responsible for all airfare and travel arrangements prior to getting into Port au Prince. A Tree of Hope Haiti (TOHH) representative will meet you at the airport in Port au Prince and a TOHH driver and transportation will be waiting for you. Be sure to check with the airline for current restrictions, luggage weight limits, etc. prior to arriving at the airport.
